RKKY range function of a one-dimensional noninteracting electron gas

چکیده
The apparently straightforward evaluation of the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida RKKY range function, or more generally, of the linear density modulation n x induced at zero temperature in a noninteracting onedimensional electron gas by a localized static impurity modeled with a function potential has proven surprisingly troublesome. Although the original calculation gave an incorrect answer,1 more recent investigations appear to suggest that only a certain procedure, known to lead to a physically sensible answer, should be employed.2 The original and most popular procedure is based on the standard theory of linear response.3 If the impurity potential is assumed to be of the form U x = 2u /2m x where u is a suitable wave vector , then one has

Screening, Kohn anomaly, Friedel oscillation, and RKKY interaction in bilayer graphene.
We calculate the screening function in bilayer graphene (BLG) in both the intrinsic (undoped) and the extrinsic (doped) regimes within the random phase approximation, comparing our results with the corresponding single layer graphene and the regular two-dimensional electron gas. We find that the Kohn anomaly is strongly enhanced in BLG. We also discuss the Friedel oscillation and the RKKY inter...
متن کاملLocal Field Correction Effect on Dicluster Stopping Power in a Strongly Coupled Two-Dimensional Electron Gas System
We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is deriv...
متن کاملInstanton method for the electron propagator
A nonperturbative theory of the electron propagator is developed and used to calculate the one-particle Green’s function and tunneling density of states in strongly correlated electron systems. The method, which is based on a Hubbard–Stratonovich decoupling of the electron–electron interaction combined with a cumulant expansion of the resulting noninteracting propagator, provides a possible gen...
متن کاملCalculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method
In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...
متن کاملAn RKKY-induced dimerized phase of the Kondo lattice model
We clarify the nature of the dimerized ground state found in the one-dimensional Kondo lattice model at quarter conduction electron filling. The conduction electrons mediate, through the RKKY mechanism, the long-range interactions among localized spins necessary to induce dimerization in that sub-system. On the other hand, the feedback of the local moments on the conduction electron fluid does ...
